Habitat: upper tidal swamp; canopy dominated by water tupelo [Nyssa aquatica], bald cypress [Taxodium distichum], and pumpkin ash [Fraxinus profunda]. Flooded an average of 2 to 3 months every year by river flows and during high tides. Soils continuously saturated mucks.
