Bob Godfrey (1911-2000) taught Botany and served as curator of the Herbarium at Florida State University from 1954 until his retirement in 1973. A well known and respected expert on the flora of northern Florida and the adjacent areas of Alabama and Georgia, Godfrey shared his love of the region's natural heritage with a myriad of students and visitors. During his tenure, he developed the herbarium into a collection of more than 180,000 plants. The Herbarium was formally named in his honor in 2002. |
