Verbatim Directions to Locality: In an extremely briery upland old field, by U.S. Rt. 27, 1.2 miles W of Chaires Crossroad.
Habitat: In an extremely briery upland old field
Plant Morphology Observations: Leaves limber, the young ones having both surfaces glaucous, older ones having both surfaces glaucous, older ones somewhat grayish green. Inflorescence 2.7 m tall (stalk plus panicle), stalk and inflorescence axes green, the bracts on the stalk red basally and exteriorly.

Identification History: Yucca flaccida Haworth [Inflorescence pubescent, tepals 4-4.5 mm] separate note as follows: FNA authors list Yucca filamentosa and Y. flaccida separately but say they "are very closely related and perhaps are not distinct species." However, the cite a DNA study in which a consensus tree shows the two species are quite distant (see FNA 26:433-434, 2002).
