| Plant Morphology Observations: | stem 2 m tall, very heavily leafy almost to the base; uppermost young leaves erect, those lower down angling-ascending, lowest ones arching about medially, their tips declined; surfaces of young leaves heavily glaucous and bluish green; old leaves medium-green, not bluish; leaf margins with a narrow, brown, opaque band which at least proximally has minute, flat tearing enations; above the flared bases leaves relatively narrow, concave adaxially, convex abaxially, flat beyond that, broadest somewhat above their middles then gradually tapering to a spinose tip, largest ones 7-8 dm long and 4-5 cm broad at their broadest places; (leaves on specimen sheets severed a few cm above the flaring bases) inflorescence stalk (below the lowest panicle branches) 4 dm long, panicle 12 dm long and about 4.5 dm broad medially; tepals off-white, pistil green, filaments, anthers, and styles white. |
