Verbatim Directions to Locality: the sand ridge between two karst lakes, Lost Lake and Little Lost Lake, Apalachicola National Forest, off Spring Hill Road, S of Tallahassee.
Habitat: On a sand ridge with scattered longleaf pine and abundant scrub oaks. Besides the pine most of the scrub oaks are Quercus laevis, few Q. incana, and numerous Q. geminata; other associates: Aristida stricta, Aristida sp., Smilax auriculata, Panicum virgatum, Pteridium aquilinum var. pseudocaudatum, Sporobolus junceus, Liatris chapmanii, Licania michauxii, Vaccinium myrsinites, few Warea sessilifolia.
Plant Morphology Observations: Tree with relatively small, short trunk, about 2.5 dm dbh, and a moderate sized crown.
