Verbatim Directions to Locality: ca nine miles south of New Smyrna Beach at Turtle Mound (ancient shell-midden).
Habitat: narrow shell beach at base of heavily vegetated shell mound; mound cover of Celtis, Exothia paniculata, Xanthoxylum fagara, Persea littoralis, Ardisia escallonioides, Rapanea guianensis, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Plumbago scandens, Bumelia, and Forestiera.
Plant Morphology Observations: seeds shiny black; fruit persistent. shrubs to 4 m tall.
